Rainbow Layered Nail Art

Hello lovelies! Today I have some fun nail art to share with you -- I have been so inspired by layering and line work lately, and I am SO happy with how this gorgeous Rainbow Layered Nail Art came out.

I was perusing on Pinterest some color schemes, and I saw this vintage-y rainbow color scheme that immediately inspired me to create this look.

It was like 2am when I painted these, so I forgot to take step-by-step photos, but I will do my best to explain how I achieved this look below!

Products Used

• Red - KL Polish "Magic City"
• Peach - KL Polish "South Peach"
• Yellow - China Glaze "Lemon Fizz"
• Mint - China Glaze "At Your Athleisure"
• Turquoise - Essie "Where's My Chauffeur"
• Blue - Essie "Avenue Maintain”
• Navy - OPI "Keeping Suzi At Bay"

The How-To

So to start out this mani, peruse your collection for the polishes I listed above, or similar shades -- these are definitely interchangeable with similar shades!

I didn't use any special tools to create this, just the brushes that come in the bottle, and one detail craft brush that I picked up at Michaels.

Start out with clean nails, and your favorite base coat. Next, go in with your darkest navy shade, mine was OPI "Keeping Suzi At Bay" and coat one side of your nail with the polish (layer until the color is opaque).

The next step is one that you will repeat until the last shade. I took the blue polish, Essie "Avenue Maintain”, and I lined the brush up to my cuticle, but about 1cm to the right of the navy blue, and I applied the polish until opaque. This creates the illusion that I painted a very clean line of navy blue, next to my lighter blue. Additionally, I chose to add a bit of a curve to my look, but you do not have to do that since it increases the difficulty.

I followed this exact pattern of taking the next shade, but leaving ~1cm of the previous color showing, with each of the following colors - Essie "Where's My Chauffeur", China Glaze "At Your Athleisure", China Glaze "Lemon Fizz",  and KL Polish "South Peach"

When I reached the peach shade, the width of the brush had completely filled in the remainder of my nail. So for the next color, OPI "Summer Lovin' Having A Blast", I had to used my detail brush and paint in the next layer, then used KL Polish "Magic City", to finish up the look by filling in the remainder of my nail space with red.

I hope that made some sense, but I promise for the next (similar nail art) I will shoot step-by-step photos to better show you how to complete this look, and get creative with your own color schemes.
